Abstract
183,477. Gouyaud, G. M., (Assignee of Dalens, L. C.). July 20, 1921, [Convention date]. Addition to 181,713, [Class 20 (i), Buildings and structures, Kinds &c. of]. Arches; roofs.-Hollow or skeleton-like reinforced-concrete arch blocks are used in place of the metallic tubular elements described in the parent Specification f o r structures of small span or lightly loaded, the dimensions of the metal tubes being then too small for working inside. The blocks are temporarily suspended in a similar manner by guy-ropes, so that centering or falsework is dispensed with, and consist of angle-portions u joined at intervals by cross-stays v ; for deeper blocks, intermediate longitudinal portions u<1> are included. The blocks are adjustably connected by dowels 22 and bolts and plates 23; metal bars are then secured in place by transverse bindings, and a spiral reinforcement may be added. Wooden or metallic sheeting is then applied and the interior is filled with concrete. Weight may be reduced by using porous concrete linings or cores 20. Adjacent ribs so formed may be connected by concrete vaulting cast by means of moulds suspended from the ribs.
