Abstract

182,807. Eversheim, P. July 10, 1920, [Convention date]. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Spigot - and socket joints with packing at mouth of socket; fluidseal joints.-In an upright metallic-vapour electric lamp with a solenoid for moving one electrode into contact with the other, the ignition portion is filled with mercury in which is a float carrying the movable electrode. As shown the ignition tube b is separate from the burner tube a and is made of metal, having a flexible rim c<1> at the lower end fitting into the burner tube a. The tubes a, b are clamped together by a cap ring c<3> screwing on to a threaded portion b<1> of the ignition tube, a packing-ring c<2> being interposed between the two tubes. The cavity of the cap c<3> is filled with mercury.
