Abstract

181,851. Leon, K. O. March 24, 1921. Roller bearings in which the rollers make point contact with the raceways. A cage prevents each roller from having any substantial axial displacement of its centre while being free to move angularly in all directions. As shown in Fig. 3, the cage rings d. which are connected together by distance-pieces and bolts or rivets are provided with projections e engaging depressions f in the roller ends. The projections e may be stamped up from the rings d. Alternatively, the rollers may be provided with projections or pins engaging the flat or recessed surfaces of the rings. In a modification, the ends of the rollers are made conical or convex to contact with the flat surfaces of the rings, as shown in Fig. 9. The rings d may be of bent strips with incurved parts s, Fig. 12, acting as distance-pieces.
