Roller bearings.-In a roller bearing having one or more rows of conical rollers, each roller has a spherical surface engaging a flange on one of the race rings to take end thrust of the roller and to prevent deviation from the normal position. The surface of the flange may be spherical, in which case the contact with the roller is superficial, or it may be conical in which case the contact is linear. The spherical surface 5, Fig. 2, is formed on a collar 9 of the roller and engages a spherical surface 6. Figs. 8 and 9 show forms in which the spherical surfaces are at the larger ends of the rollers. In a modification, the rollers are barrelshaped and run in a spherical outer race. Specification 133,949 is referred to.
