Abstract

151,305. Wilson, F. G. May 16, 1919. Roller bearings. - A cage for a conical or cylindrical roller bearing comprises a pair of end rings 12, complete or in parts, connected by roller-bearing bars 13 and' formed with notches to receive the pintles of the rollers. The notches are spanned by L-shaped rings 16, 17 retained by ribs 22 engaging grooves, or pressed or shrunk on to the rings 12. The rings 16, 17 are extended towards the shaft and serve to exclude dust from the bearing. Shoulders 8, 9 and disks 9<a> on the rollers take end thrust, and the ring 17 has a thrust surface engaging the inner race 3. The sides of the spacing-bars 13 are curved to fit against the rollers, and are so shaped that the rollers can be inserted between them from the outer or inner side only. In a modification, the pintles 11 are dispensed with.
