Abstract

825,689. Bearing cages. SVENSKA KULLAGERFABRIKEN A.B. Oct. 22, 1957 [Oct. 23, 1956], No. 32993/57. Class 12 (1). A roller bearing cage comprises a plurality of cage elements made of plastic and a pair of metal rings 5, between which the plastic elements extend and are located accurately with respect to one another, the plastic cage elements providing the only surfaces of the cage which the rollers contact. Each cage element consists of two arcuate side-pieces 6 connected by a cross-bar 7 which is hollowed out at 8 and has an inwardly directed tongue 9 extending over the middle portion of its length. A projection 11 on each side-piece 6 engages a hole in the adjacent metal ring 5, and flanges on the ring 5 are bent over the edges of the side-piece. The plastic elements may be made of polyamide resin. The invention is also applied to a two-row spherical roller bearing.
