Abstract

559,635. Roller cages. BRITISH TIMKEN, Ltd., and KILAYIN, E. Nov. 13, 1942, No. 16055. [Class 12 (i)] A roller-bearing cage ring 5 with apertures or pockets 6 for cylindrical or taper rollers 4 has one or more resilient tongues, ears or projections 7 on one side of a pocket which co-operate with the other side of the pocket so that the rollers are forced past the tongues by a snap action. The tongues 7 project outwardly or inwardly according as the cage is below ,Fig. 3, or above, Fig. 6, the roller centre. In a modified form, Fig. 9, the tongues are formed on both sides of the pockets but are staggered so that the rollers are inserted by tilting them. The tongues may be formed by bending parts between slits 8. Specification 19315/98, [Class 12], is referred to.
