Safety wheels and supports.-In a single-track power-driven vehicle having lateral supporting- wheels. adapted to be raised and lowered by power from the engine, this operation is controlled by a device comprising a sliding member f, which is keyed to the shaft b on which the lateral wheels c are mounted so as to be raised and lowered, and is adapted to hold the shaft b and wheels c in the operative or inoperative position by the engagement of projections k with recesses in a disc e connected to the chassis a, either rigidly or with a limited amount of resiliency through the medium of springs d. When the wheels c are to be raised or lowered, the sliding member f is shifted by levers &c. against the action of a spring m until projections h engage recesses i in a member g rotated from the engine. When the shaft b has made half a revolution, the member f is disengaged from the member g, either by hand or automatically by a cam device, and reengages the disc e, thus locking the wheels c in the new position.
