Abstract

181,229. MacGregor, G. May 25, 1921. Impeller b l a d e s : driving-gear.-A combined fan and pulleywheel is formed of stampings which provide also a housing for an antifriction bearing. One of several forms described is shown in Fig. 1. This is a four-bladed fan composed of two twoblade stampings 1, 1, the blades of which are at right-angles, and between which is held a distance - piece 10 forming the base of the groove o f t h e driving - pulley; the sides of this groove are the portions 3, 11 of the blade stampings. The ball-bearing ring 8 is held between flanges 7 on the blade-stampings. Other forms include a separate stamping to form one side of the pulley-groove, and different forms of flanges for uniting the parts. The member 10 may be flanged. The whole is mounted on a shouldered-shaft 14 eccentric to the stub-shaft 16, so that by rotating the latter the tension of the driving-belt may be varied.
