Abstract

Folding crates or cases.-The sides 4 and ends 2 of a collapsable crate or case are hinged at different levels within a shallow box or tray-like portion 1 secured to the bottom 3; the sides and ends all extend to the bottom and are so divided and hinged horizontally that when the crate is collapsed they may be folded one upon another within the tray and secured by the lid 10. The sides, ends, or both are provided with battens such as 8, 11, projecting above their upper edges and fitting against the edges of the lid; the battens are also extended downwardly to enter recesses in the sides of the tray 1. The ends fit closely between the sides and have hook-like fasteners 12 adapted to engage bridge-plate parts 15 on the sides to prevent the upper parts of the latter from being forced outwardly. Abutments 18 are provided on the sides to prevent outward movement of the ends.
