Abstract

Purifiers; scrubbers.-Grids for gas purifiers, scrubbers, and the like are constructed of reinforced concrete in the form of bars, or of a single perforated slab or the like, located in a common plane with the supporting side members. In one form, a concrete lattice-like structure a, Figs. 1 and 2, is provided with an expanded-metal reinforcement b embedded therein, the gas passages d being preferably of smaller dimensions at the top than at the bottom. Bearing-surfaces are provided upon the end members g and reinforced concrete cross ribs e are located upon the under surface of the grid. The side and end members are constructed of wood, or of concrete, or of both, and may be integral with the grid. In a second form, the grid comprises bars k, Fig. 7, of concrete, which may form separate sections, having metal reinforcements l therein, the ends of which are bent to form eyes n through which the reinforcements m of the end members g and side members h are passed. In other modifications, hurdle grids with bars of various crosssections are employed.
