Abstract
179,992. Ballantine, W. B. Jan. 19, 1921. Alloys.-Iron-chromium alloys low in carbon and other oxidizable impurities are made by submitting alloys higher in such impurities to the action of an oxidizing blast while fused in an arc furnace. The blast may be directed on to the surface of the molten mass or may be introduced through an adjustable electrode; and it may also be used to carry fluxes to the material during the treatment.
