Abstract

143,473. Groves, W. E. Nov. 29, 1919. Fluxes.-A flux for use in welding, particularly electric welding, consists of 1¢ lb. of carbon, preferably charcoal, 2¢ lb. of chalk, 2 oz. of sugar, and 1-3 oz. of borax; or 2 oz. of fine sand may be substituted for a corresponding weight of the chalk. The mixture is made into a paste with water.
