Abstract

Air vessels; buckets; single-acting bucket pumps; pipes; suction reservoirs ; auxiliary valves on pump suction. - A pump for fixe-extinguishing &c. comprises a singleacting pump 6 mounted in a container which is divided into a liquid reservoir 2 and a delivery air-chamber 3 communicating with the outlet 20 by a pipe 10. The piston 5 of the pump slides between stops 9 on a rod 4, and in its lowest position closes a port 11 which communicates through the interior of the rod with an always open port 10. During the up-stroke, liquid above the piston is delivered through a port 7 into the air chamber 3 and liquid passes from the reservoir 2 past ball-valves 15, 13 into the lower part of the pump 6. The valve 15 is connected to a second valve 18 by a rod 16 passing through a pipe 17, so that, when the pump is inverted, liquid enters the barrel 6 by the valve 18 and pipe 17, the valve 15 being then in closed position.
