Abstract

Transformers.-The body portion 17 of a casing or tank for transformers and other electric apparatus consists of corrugated walls formed by bending sheet metal along parallel lines, the parts of the casing formed by the corrugations being closed by separate inserted end pieces 26. The walls are made up of units, each of which preferably comprises two or more corrugations united by plane back portions 20. The side portions 22 of the units are formed with upturned edges 23, and similar edges 27, 28 are formed on the end pieces 26, so that the parts may be readily secured together preferably by welding. The crests of the corrugations are notched at 30, and the edges of the end pieces are cut away at the tips, in order to permit the end pieces to shed water when the tank is used in an outdoor installation. The tank is secured to a base 10 by means of rods 32 provided with lifting-eyes 33. Specification 119,450 is referred to.
