Condensers.-A box or casing, particularly for electric condensers and other components requiring external terminals, such as resistances, is built of an insulating strip forming three sides and of metal plates having in curved edges confining the edges of the strip and having tongues entering the strip at right angles to secure the plates in position. Figs 1 and 2 show in median sections at right angles a casing for a condenser 11 embedded in insulators 12'. The insulating strip 1 is bent twice at right angles to form three sides of the casing (Fig. 1), and is slotted at 2 (Fig. 2) to receive inturned tongues 5, which are formed on two of three inturned edges 4 of two metal plates 3 forming two other sides, and which hold those plates in position on the edges of the strip 1. A third metal plate 6, in this case forming the base, is formed longer than the width of the plates 3, so as to receive fixing holes, and has two opposite upturned edges 7 secured to the bottom of the plates 3 as by soldering. Insulating levers 8 for the plates 3 serve also to support the edges of the strip 1 against crushing, and a similar liner 9 may be provided for the plate 6. The plates 3 may be stamped from sheet steel and may be used with strips 1 and plates 6 of various thicknesses to provide different sizes of casings. The part of the casing shown as the top may be curved, with no defined edges between it and the other sides of the strip. The Provisional Specification also states that the strip and liners may be of impregnated millboard.
