Abstract
177,812. Moll, H. April 3, 1922. Gaseous-fuel furnaces.-In gas-fired reverberatory and open-hearth furnaces, mixers, and the like, the air and gas supply flues are so arranged that the air flue joins the gas flue before the ad mission port is reached and the current of gas is surrounded bv a current of air. As shown in Fig. 1, the air flue c, which may be elliptical in cross-section or approximately so, meets the gas flue b and may be made wider than the gas flue and extend above it. The gas surrounded by air enters the furnace a through the port d. In a modification, the gas flue may open from below into the air flue which should be wider than the gas flue. Two or more sets of flues may be arranged at one or both ends of the furnace. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91, (3) (a) instead of the air or gas being supplied from below into the gas or air flue, it may be supplied from above. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 27564/06.
