Lantern gratings.-A screen for preventing the glare of motor-car lamps consists of a casing 1 provided with polished sheet-metal or other vertical and horizontal intersecting plates 2, 3 which enclose prismatic cells 4 of considerable depth. A glass plate 5 covers the front of the shield. A large opening may be provided in the lower part of the screen. The screen may be hinged to the front of the lamp and secured by a screw, or may be attached by means of hinged metal straps provided with screw bolts which are passed through lugs on a plate resting against the rear end of the lamp.
