Axle and axle structures.-In an axle structure of the kind in which the road wheels are mounted directly on stub axles 14 driven through spur gearing from a differential countershaft 5, 6, the spur gears 10, 12 are made equal or substantially equal in size to each other and to the diameter of the axle tubes 9 in order to obtain increased ground clearance. The axle tubes 9 are connected together by a central gear casing 8.
