Abstract

176,447. Hind, J. A. Nov. 9, 1920. Piston valves. - Undue expansion of piston packing and, in the case of piston valves, collapse of the packing due to the pressure in the steam ports are prevented by means of a coiled steel band 3 interposed between the packing-rings 2 and the expanding springs 5. The packing-rings are of L- section and are formed with grooves 1 to receive the edges of the band 3. A wave spring 4 is interposed between the spring rings 5. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller fo Specifications 14274/98 and 11767/15.
