Abstract

176,331. Bethlehem Steel Co., (Assignees of Lachman, M., and Lachman, L. S.). Feb. 26, 1921, [Convention date.]. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Compressionspoke wheels; spokes. securing. - In metal wheels, the spokes are formed from bar of T-section with the web 3 disposed radially and transversely and the head 3<1> preferably shaped and rounded to imitate a wooden spoke. The inner and outer ends 4<1>, 4 are left flat for attachment to the hub and rim. At the hub the spokes are mitred together and a ring 7, with notches 8 on its outer edge preferably having a radial flange, embraces and interlocks with the web, which is also notched at 5 for this purpose. The spokes and ring are secured between two hub plates 9 by bolts 10<11> and distance-pieces. At the outer end, the spokes are secured to an angle ring 2 by riveting, welding, or bolting. The web is formed with an aperture 6, in which are placed the nuts of the bolts 10<1> by which a detachable rim 12 with lugs 13 is secured.
