Abstract

Couplings, automatic. - In an automatic coupling of the type described in Specification 153,656 in which the coupling-heads are tightened by means of an eccentric spindle on which the hook or pin, or link or shackle, is mounted, the end portions of the eccentric spindle have secured to them arms or levers, the free ends of which are connected bv a transverse bar which midway of its length is formed with a screw-threaded hole engaged by a screw-operating spindle. The hook a is mounted on an eccentric b carried in bearings in the coupler head d. Lever arms e are attached to each end of the eccentric spindle, their free ends being crossconnected by a shaft f, the centre of which is screw-threaded to receive a screwed spindle h mounted in a lug k on the coupler head. By revolving the handle n, the lever arm and the eccentric b are drawn rearwardly, ensuring a tight coupling.
