Abstract
175,742. Read, R. K. Nov. 19, 1920. Seats and seat backs, arrangement and disposition of.-In a removable seat for a side-car, the back is rigidly supported by a cross-rod, preferably in two parts, the ends of the rods having attachable or detachable connections on the sidecar body, the front edge of the seat being connected by resilient means to the side-car framing. The support for the back c of the seat comprises two rods d, d', which telescope into one of two sleeves attached to the back, and are supported in sockets e on the side-car body. The seat c<1> may be connected to the back by resilient means c<2> covered by a flap c<3> and the front edge is supported by springs h, or rubber cord, from brackets i on the framework. When the seat is dismantled the rods d, d', are each telescoped into one of the sleeves attached to the back and retained within its. compass by clips. The seat may be of hammock form suspended from the rods d, d<1>, the front edge being supported as above, or where there is insufficient room the outer ends of the bars d, d<1>, are provided with forwardly extending loops thereby constituting the sole support, in the form of three sides of a square, for the seat, the projecting forward ends of the loops, carrying the front edge and the rods d, d<1> the back of the seat. Where an upholstered main seat is not provided, two seats of the above form placed tandem-wise may be used.
