175,329. Carmichael, T. B., and Ockleston, W. H. Oct. 1, 1920. Combination tanning processes. - Hides and skins are subjected to a preliminary tanning by a mixture of formaldehyde and sodium bisulphite in solution, and are afterwards tanned by pyrogallol, catecol, or other tanning-agents, precipitation of which is prevented by the preliminary process. Specification 173,788 is referred to.
