Abstract
199,937. Moeller, W. June 14, 1922. Treatment preliminary to tanning.-Hides are submitted to a combined liming and bating treatment, without previous liming or sweating, with a bate prepared as described in Specification 179,135. In an example, the freshly dried constituents of dog's dung and pancreatic gland are extracted with a solution of calcium hydroxide. The solution is neutralized and the hides treated therewith until the hairs are loosened. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 18770/11 and 169,730.
