Abstract

Thermionic oscillation generators; harmonics, utilizing.-Relates to means for minimizing internal consumption of energy in a thermionic oscillation-generator, and comprises an arrangement for adding the third partial to the fundamental oscillation. The phase-relation is such as to produce a grid-potential curve shaped as at 3, Fig. 5, and internal consumption of energy takes place during only the middle third of each half-period. In one form of the apparatus the aerial B, Fig. 6, is tuned to the fundamental and is associated with a circuit C tuned to the third partial, the grid A being coupled as shown. In another form, a power valve, which is directly connected to the aerial, has its grid coupled to each of two circuits arranged in series with the anode of a generating valve, the two circuits referred to being tuned to the fundamental and the third partial respectively. The Specification refers to a known device in which a somewhat similar result is obtained by applying to the grid a high negative constant potential together with an oscillating potential of large amplitude, so that the grid is negatively charged except during the middle third of the positive half-period.
