Abstract

Seals.-In identification devices for animals of the kind in which two discs, buttons, or like parts are secured to the ear of an animal by the expansion, by a loose internal member, of a hollow stem on one part into a recess in an outer hollow stem carrying the second part, the end of the inner stem to ba expanded is cut to form prongs the free ends of which are shaped to form a spherical end to the stem. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the stem b<1> carried by one button b is expanded by a loose steel ball c so that its split spherical head b<2> engages behind a shoulder a<2> in the shank a<1> on the second button a. In a modification, Fig. 7, the ball c is replaced by a loose conical wedge-piece d which is accessible to allow the device to be unfastened. In a further modification, Fig. 18, the buttons are replaced by two hinged plates e, f.
