Controlling-apparatus, arrangements of hand and foot gear in conjunction with; interlocking and guarding against wrong movements.-In an hydraulic change-speed and reversing gear comprising cylinders 1 carried by the driving shaft 3 and fixed cylinders 2, crank-pins 7, 8 forming part of a member 24, and a distributor 12 secured to the member 24, the crank-pins are adjusted by means of an inclined member 25 carried by a spring-controlled sleeve 29 keyed to the driven shaft 11 and slidden along by a lever 31, the movement of the member 25 simultaneously adjusting the radial position of a counter-weight 37 by means of rack-and-pinion and screw mechanism. The pivot of the lever 31 has a cam 33 serving as a variable stop for a finger 35 connected to the accelerating pedal 57 of the prime mover driving the shaft 3. A member 19 is revolubly mounted on the cylinders 2 so that it may be adjusted by means of a pedal 44 in order to put the cylinders into oommunication with the interior of the enclosing casing to uncouple the shafts, or to block the cylinder ports partially or wholly to produce a braking effect.
