Abstract
171,382. Barbarou M. J. B. Nov. 13, 1920, [Convention date]. Toothed gearing.-In an aircraft having its propeller driven from the cam-shaft of the engine, the gear wheel c<1> on the cam-shaft is driven from a pinion b on the crank-shaft through two intermediate gear-wheels D, E the centres of which are adjustable towards or away from the adjacent wheels. Each wheel D, E is mounted by means of roller bearings G, H on a sleeve A which is eccentrically mounted on a hollow spindle B. The end of the sleeve A has teeth C adapted to be engaged by corresponding teeth on a plate K, which is secured to the gear casing by screws F after adjustment of the sleeve. The roller bearings H are arranged outside the planes of the edges of the teeth to allow an adequate depth of metal beneath the teeth. A ball thrust-bearing I prevents endways movement of the gear wheel. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) mentions Specification 157,075, [Class 80 (ii), Gearing, Variable-speed &c.]. This reference does not appear in the Speclfication as accepted.
