186,566. Marks, E. C. R., (Baldwin, F. W.). May 31, 1921. Driving-arrangements for screw propellers.- A screw propeller is driven by a number of motors having driving-bevels which mesh with the upper face of an horizontal bevel-wheel, the lower face gearing with a bevel-wheel on the propeller shaft. As applied to a hydroplane vessel, a number of radially-disposed motors 19 have driving-bevels which mesh with the upper teeth of an horizontal gear-wheel 18. With the lower teeth of this gear-wheel is meshed a pinion 17 which is mounted on the propeller shaft 16.
