Stropping - apparatus; wheel apparatus; cutting-edges, treating. -For sharpening removable flat or hollowground safety - razor blades, a cylinder or wheel 2, fitted with a leather or like sharpening-surface 3 and capable of being turned by a hand-crank 5 or other means, is mounted in a frame comprising uprights 1 and a crossmember 6, the hollow-ground blade, or a flat blade mounted in a holder, being engaged between pairs of studs 7, 8 in such a manner that the blade can be depressed to bring the cutting-edge into contact with the sharpening- surface. The lower studs 8 are covered with rings 9 of rubber or other elastic material, so that, when the pressure is removed, the blade is raised clear of the sharpening-surface and rests towards its back upon the cross-member 6.
