Abstract

171,304. Fischer, J. W. Nov. 8, 1920. Razors, safety, in which the blade is clamped to a base by a clamping-plate operated by the handle. The base 12 is provided with a longitudinal abutment 14 projecting normally to the surface thereof, and the forward movement of the blade on the base is determined by a longitudinal' abutment 22 projecting normally to the plane thereof and engaging the abutment 14. The abutment 22 and a corresponding one 21 on the other side of the blade are formed by a backing 20 clamped to the rear part of the blade, the abutments 21, 22 extending to different distances on the two surfaces, so that by reversing the blade the cut may be varied. The clamping-plate 30, pivoted at 31 to the base, has a cam portion 33 bearing against the back of the blade to force the abutment 21 or 22 against the abutment 14 as the handle 38 is screwed on to a pin 35 projecting from the plate 30. In a modification the base projects on both sides of the handle so that a pair of blades, giving different cuts, may be clamped thereon by a double clamping-plate.
