Abstract
171,221. Bethell, A. V. Aug. 28, 1920. Folding bedsteads.-A combined folding perambulator and cot is constructed with an X- shaped side frame PQ, RS carrying wheel axles and supporting the rectangular body framework AB to which is attached a flexible body shaped by a cane or other light framework. Slotted metal plates C connect the frames PQ, AB. Removable pivotal fastenings at 0 allow of folding, and may be re-inserted in holes M to lock the folded frame. The handle joint at R may be detached to allow the side members to be sprung over the bolts at 0. A plate 15 may engage a bolt or wing-nut on the axle to lock the frame. A light canopy is held on a frame, Fig. 6. The axles may be mounted in spring-supported lever members V, W, Fig. 5, which may be fixed as extensions of the frame members when the wheels are removed and the apparatus used as a cot. For this purpose the body may be adjusted by adjusting the slotted plates C, Fig. 1, or by using other connecting plates K, Fig. 5, the other body connection being moved from the pivoting point 0 to a point J.
