Abstract

170,729. Bailey, S. L. Aug. 23, 1920. Clutches, friction.-In friction clutches of the kind described in Specification 127,099, in which spring-pressed clutch-operating levers are carried by a member rocking on a spherical supporting- surface, the clutch shaft A is extended and carried in a bearing D in a plate B supported by bolts C secured to the outside of the gear case X. Levers L, J pivoted on the plate B are operated by a Bowden mechanism carried by one of the bolts C and bear through a ball thrust bearing F on a sleeve E operating the clutch. A spring G bearing against the sleeve E keeps the kickstarter pinion H in position.
