Abstract

170,634. Macrorie, A. K., Airey, H. Morris-, Shearing, G., and Mullard, S. R. July 10, 1920. Vacuum tubes.-In means for supporting and insulating the electrodes of a thermionic valve, a support K, Fig. 1, is secured to a bulb by a rod R, enclosed within a tube S and covered by a flange T, the support and other parts being of insulating material such as silica. In another arrangement, hollow flanged tubes F, G, Fig. 3, carrying an anode and a grid respectively, are arranged around silica rod supports L attached to concentric rings H, K, which are rigidly joined by U-shaped silica rods V and tubes Q. The ring H is fixed to the bulb by fusion at the parts P. The rings H, K may be replaced by triangular supports separated by rods with insulating flanges, or by rods with tubes and flanges as shown in Fig. 1. In another arangement, the flanged tubes F, G are mounted on a single, ring or triangular support. Specifications 170,096 and 170,097 are referred to.
