Crucibles a n d melting - pots. - A crucible or pot for containing salt baths for the heat-treatment of metals comprises a container made of steel, wrought iron, or other material resistant to the action of salts and having in its composition less than 2 per cent of carbon, and preferably less than 2 per cent of silicon, aluminium, or the like or their compounds. The apparatus may comprise an outer shell or wall 8 of graphite cast steel or other material resistant to oxidizing atmospheres, and an inner shell or lining 12 having the above characteristics. A sealing- ring 15 may be provided to protect the upper portion of the lining 12 from oxidation. Specification 168,887 is referred to.
