Abstract

170,073. Stephens, J. R. July 8, 1920. Universal joints.-In universal joints of the flexible disc type for motor vehicles &c., the disc consists of one or more layers, each consisting of a series of links 3, 4 in imbricated arrangement, the spider studs passing through the overlapping portions. When two or more layers are used, the overlapping ends are secured together either by rivets passing through clamping-plates, which are perforated for the spider pins, or by cementing the ends together under pressure to make a solid block around each pin.
