Abstract

228,100. Goodrich Co., B. F., (Assignees of Wilson, G. 'F.). Jan. 22, 1924, [Convention date]. Universal joints for spring suspensions and torque arm connections of motor vehicles. A central coupling disc 14 is built up of two rings 15 of laminated rubberized fabric alternately spaced apart by rubber pads 16 and clamped together by blocks 21 secured by bolts 20 alternately to the spider arms 12a, 13a on the shaft ends: The bolts pass through holes in the blocks and holes 19 in the coupling-disc. Hollows 22, Fig. 5, may be formed in the pads 16. The pads and fabric are vulcanized together. The disc is adapted to transmit a compressive force between the arms.
