Abstract

169,501. Ryan, J. C. June 23, 1920. Vehicle lamps.-In a vehicle head-light, the lamp 17 is mounted in front of a concave shield 16 facing the upper part of the main reflector 3 having a central aperture behind which is mounted a plane mirror 18 set at a suitable inclination to reflect the light rays in parallel beams. The central part of the shield 16 is given a polished surface, the remainder being dull to diffuse the light and the lower part 20 of the reflector 3 is also given a light-diffusing surface. Below the shield 16 is an inclined plane mirror 19, and the shield is provided with an extension 21. The under surface of the mirror 19 and the extension 21 are enamelled to form a diffusing- surface.
