Abstract

169,444. Amaudric du Chaffaut, R. J., and Coupier, M. M. J. E. Sept. 25, 1920, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Act]. Valves; valve - gear. - Oppositely - moving pistons 16, 21 are connected to cranks 18, 23 respectively geared to rotate with a speed ratio of 1 to 2. The piston 16 has an extension 20 in which reciprocates the upper piston 21 the extension being surrounded by a rotary cylindrical valve 14 driven through worm and chain gearing from the crank-shaft 19. The valve is provided with inlet and exhaust ports which register with ports 28, 27 respectively, in the extension 20 of the piston. The ports in the valve register also with inlet and exhaust ports 25, 26 respectively in the cylinder wall. Means may be provided for varying the relative positions of the crank-shafts.
