Abstract
169,059. Wild, L., and Everitt, E. C. July 16, 1920. Folding-vehicles.-In a baby's folding carriage which when folded takes the shape of a portmanteau or box, the hood collapses into the seat, the handle and its stay fold on to the hood, the seat together with the hood,.handle, and stay fold on to the footboard of the body, and the wheeled undercarriage folds into a recess beneath the footboard and a cupboard located beneath the seat. The hood c is supported by stays of which the lowest one c<3> is pivoted to a lug c<4> sliding on a bar c<5> on the body to collapse the hood into the seat a. The handle d is hinged to the upper edge of the 'back of the body and its support d<1> has one end pivoted to it and the other end detachably connected to the back of the body. The seat a is hinged at its front edge and a space b<2> below it forms a cupboard. A spring underframe e<1> on each side of the body carrying the wheels e folds transversely into a recess b<5> beneath the seat a and footboard b<4> as also do stays f pivoted to the sides of the body and engaging with the lower members of the underframes e<1> to maintain them in the open position. A detachable foot-rest h is used when a second child is carried or a detachable tray g, Fig. 3, may be placed on the footboard b<4> so that the occupant may lie down.
