Abstract
167,731. Soc. Anon. d'Ougree-Marihaye. Aug. 10, 1920, [Convention date]. Water-tube boilers. - In a boiler in which pulverized coal is burnt in two stages, first forming carbon monoxide, and then, with more air, burning to carbon-dioxide, the water-tubes 3, 4 connecting headers 1, 2 are divided into two sets by a vertical wall 5. Pulverized fuel injected 'by burners 6 burns, with a limited supply of air, to carbon-monoxide in the compartment 7, whence the gases pass by pipes 15 to burners 6<1> at the top of the compartment 8 where combustion is completed. Baffles 9 cause the gases to follow a sinuous course. Combustion products in passing to the chimney 13 heat feed-water in the pipe 10 and air for combustion, and a feed-heating apparatus 12 may also be employed.
