Abstract

167,237. Maina, J. April 28, 1920. Valve-gear; regulating.-An engine for a road vehicle comprises four cylinders arranged in coaxial pairs with a crank-shaft between them, each pair of coaxial pistons being connected to a common crank. A cam shaft g is located above the crank shaft, and the crank casing is divided in a plane containing the axis of the two shafts. The valve-gear comprises laminated cams mounted on a shaft g, and tappet rods k which engage adjustable distance pieces mounted in levers 4 acted upon by springs 14. The valve mechanism is described in detail in Specifications 164,397, [Class 80 (ii), Gearing, Variable-speed &c.], and 166,740.
