Abstract
In the manufacture of viscose silk of the finer denier numbers by a drawing-out process according to Specification 166,294, sulphuric acid is employed as the spinning bath, the concentration of the acid being the greater, the finer the thread is to be, that is, the greater the drawing-out. The concentration of the acid is inversely proportioned to the square root of the denier number of the finished filament; thus employing spinning apertures of 0.10 m.m. diameter, a bath containing 250 grammes of sulphuric acid per litre is suitable for a thread of 2 deniers, and 350 grammes per litre for a thread of 1 denier.
