Abstract
In the process described in Specification 163,817 for spinning very fine threads of artificial silk from viscose, there is employed as a spinning bath a highly-concentrated solution of bisulphites either alone or with additions of formaldehyde of glucose; the concentration-and preferably the temperatureis higher the finer the thread to be produced. Thus, for a 7 denier thread, a bath containing 310 grammes of sodium bisulphite per litre is suitable; for a 2 denier thread, a bath containing 360 grammes per litre is employed; while for a 1.5-1 denier thread, a saturated solution of the more easily soluble ammonium bisulphite, maintained at a temperature of 30-80 DEG C, is used.
