Abstract

166,821. Schlatzer, E. G. July 17, 1920. Globes.-A terrestrial globe is provided with an electromagnet for illustrating the action of the earth's magnetism. A hollow globe is mounted for rotation on a metal shaft H carried by a wooden foot L. Two coils A, A' are arranged inside the globe at the magnetic poles and connected by a bent soft-iron core B. Current is supplied to the coils through leads K, C in the foot, the lead K being connected through the shaft H to the upper coil A, and the lead C through an insulated contact ring E on the shaft and a fixed contact spring G to the lower coil A<1>, the two coils being connected in series.
