Abstract
166,798. Mollenkopf, A. June 15, 1920. Reversibde windows; rattling, preventing.-In a pivoted reversible window particularly applicable to railway &c. vehicles, the pivots project through rectangular openings 5 in casings in the frame and have twoarmed levers 8, 9, fast thereto which engage cam-surfaces 6, 7, 19 in the various closed and open positions. In the closed position, one of the beads 13, 14 engages a groove 15 in the sill and the other engages a stop bead 16 in the head. To open the window, it is lifted by one of the handles 17, 18, and drawn inwardly so that the lever 8 clears the projection 7 and the bead 13 the groove 15, it is then lowered to clear the stop 16 and the cam 19 acting on the lever 8, assists rotation. In completely reversing the window, the lever engages the cam 6 and raises the window so that the bead 13 rides up the incline 20 in the sill and enters the groove 15, the lever then resting against the projection 7. Springs 12 bear against the pivots to assist rotation in certain positions and prevent rattling. The window may be held open by any suitable means.
