Abstract
166,551. Mauclere, P. A. P. V. July 16, 1920, [Convention date]. Direct gas-pressure apparatus, non-automatic. -Safety storage and delivery apparatus of the type described in Specifications 144,688, [Class 47 (ii), Fire-extinguishing &c.], 153,587, and 154,891 comprises two alternately-acting auxiliary reservoirs 2', 2<2> combined with a closed pipe circuit 12, 14 containing two gas containers 46, 5 and an interposed compressor 4, so arranged that the gas passes from the auxiliary reservoir that is being filled into the low-pressure gas container 46, and is then forced by the compressor into the high-pressure gas container 5, from which it issues through a reducing-valve 35 to force the liquid from the auxiliary reservoir that is being emptied, into the delivery pipe 27. The operation is controlled by means of three-way valves 15, 17, 16. The auxiliary reservoirs 2<1>, 2<2> are charged from the main storage tank 1 through a pipe 3 and a three-way valve 11. The auxiliary reservoir may be arranged above the level of the storage tank, in which case they are charged by aspiration, the compressor producing the necessary reduction of pressure in the container 46. The tank 1 may be filled by gravity at atmospheric pressure, as shown, or by the use of another pair of auxiliary reservoirs, gas containers, and an interposed compressor.
