Fire-extinguishing by gases or solutions; sprinkling-apparatus, non-automatic; fires, preventing in receptacles for inflammable fluids.- In the method of extinguishing or preventing fires in petrol or like tanks wherein a receptacle far an extinguishing medium is combined with the tank, the receptacles b are inserted through the sides of, and extend across the top of, the tank a. They are broken, to release the medium by the depression of spring-raised plungers e by any suitable actuation from the seat of the driver or pilot of the vehicle carrying the tank. If the tank is damaged in use, the receptacles will be broken automatically.
