Abstract
166,380. Davies, B., and Eastern Telegraph Co., Ltd. April 29, 1920. Resistances, measuring; inductances.-In a magnetic bridge used in duplex and multiplex telegraphy, in order to avoid disturbance of incoming by outgoing signals due to the effect of the latter, when a slight want of balance exists, on the hysteresis cycle through which the former take the iron of the bridge, the two arms of the bridge consist of inductances L1, L2 separately wound so that their mutual inductance is considerably less than the geometric mean of their inductances. A balance is effected by a small iron core I. This core may be moved along the axis of the bridge, or may be mounted for adjustment by rotation, Fig. 5. The width of the core I is not less than a quarter of its length so that its demagnetizing force is great. The final balance adjustments may be made on a small auxiliary bridge l1, l2, Fig. 6, joined in series with the main bridge L1, L2.
